Joe Croce and Mike Cole founded Cicis in 1985 in Plano, Texas, while it is based in Irving, Texas. Cicis is stylized after American buffet restaurant chains but the buffet specializes in serving unlimited pizza to their customers. They have a pizza, pasta, salad buffet for both lunch and dinner, where most other pizza joints only offer the buffet option at lunch. Prices at Cicis are as cheap as they come and they have promotions every couple of weeks with discounted to go pizzas or offer of a free kids meals with a purchase of an adult one.

Cicis first opened in 1985 but no major action was taken with the chain until 2001 when the company decided to remodel all of their restaurants and expand their buffet offerings. In 2015, the company began a new marketing campaign which included the renaming of the company to Cicis. Now, Cicis has grown to over 450 locations serving in 32 different states across America.
