Chuck E. Cheese’s, previously known as Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre and Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza, is a chain of dual entertainment and pizzeria centers, marketed towards younger children looking to have fun or to celebrate their birthday. Chuck E. Cheese's facilities features a sit down pizza restaurant, complemented by arcade games, amusement rides, and animatronic shows.

The first Chuck E. Cheese’s location first opened on May of 1997 in San Jose, California under the name Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre. Atari’s co-founder Nolan Bushnell was credited with the concept for Chuck E. Cheese. In fact, it was the first ever restaurant to incorporate food, animatronic entertainment, and an indoor arcade into their centers. After a few years of operations, a bankruptcy was filed and the stage was set for a new competitor to acquire the chain of Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre. ShowBiz Pizza Place eventually bought the chain, soon renaming themselves ShowBiz Pizza Time. A few years after the purchase was made in 1990, the company renamed all locations of both brands to Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza for consistency and eventually rebranding yet again in 1994 to the modern day Chuck E. Cheese’s we all know and love.

Although in recent years, the animatronic shows were soon replaced with a live walk-around character and a modernized dance floor. The arcade system used brass tokens as a form of currency to pay the machines to play, which varying amounts of tickets would soon be given to the patron depending on their result of gameplay. These tickets could then be used to trade in for prizes at the prize corner based on the amount of tickets the patron has collected overall. Chuck E. Cheese’s has tried a card access system where they replaced the tokens and tickets with a refillable card to access credits and points though this was scrapped in favour of the original token and ticket system.
