All about Dave & Buster's
Dave & Buster's is an American restaurant and arcade chain headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Each location features a full-service restaurant and a video-game arcade, in addition to other party games and pay-to-play experiences (think air hockey, or skee-ball). Offering tasty food at a low price, entertainment for everyone, and colorful, modern decor, Dave and Buster's has grown to boast over 135 locations worldwide.
Dave and Buster's was owned by Wellspring Capital Management from 2005 to 2010; Wellspring is notable for having owned Lionel (the model train company) and Checker's/Rally's, another restaurant. It has planned two IPOs, only the second of which actually occurred; it raised $94 million, which was used to pay off debt.
Dave and Buster's is best known for their combined restaurant and arcade business model, similar to companies like Chuck E. Cheese and others. Dave & Buster's, notably, is aimed to be accessible to an older audience; colors are more subdued, and some of the lighting implies more of a casino atmosphere. They have dine-in, pickup, and delivery available from most locations. Those attempting to avoid red meat can enjoy their poultry and occasional seafood dishes; vegetarians have several custom-made veggie options to choose from.
Dave & Buster's was founded in 1982 in Dallas, TX by David Corriveau and James "Buster" Corley. Corley had previous experience running a restaurant, while Corriveau had run a saloon and game parlor next to Corley's establishment. After the opening of Dave & Buster's, they acted as co-CEOs. In 1989, the company was acquired by Edison Brothers Stores; after several changes in ownership, they went public in October 2014.
Dave & Buster's is an American restaurant and entertainment business headquartered in Dallas. Each Dave & Buster's has a full-service restaurant and a video arcade. As of June 2020, the company has 137 locations in the United States and Canada, with more announced to open in the near future. Dave & Buster's dubbed their arcade section "Million Dollar Midway" which features interactive games and simulators. In 1997, Dave & Buster's introduced the Power Card, a declining balance card or 'debit card' that replaces traditional tokens and tickets, and is required to activate most arcade games and can be reloaded at so called "power stations".
