Design - Optimal Use

This entry-level Acer V5-122P-0643 ultraportable laptop weighs only 3 lbs and has an 11.6" touch screen. Some users may find it underpowered, but the AMD processor and 4GB of RAM should be able to handle most standard home or small office tasks like browsing, email, office applications, YouTube videos, etc. In addition, the touch screen should make learning and using Windows 8 easier. (Don't forget to be on the lookout for the 8.1 update coming soon from Microsoft.) Not many reviews, but online retailer sites show around 4 of 5 stars from most buyers.

Not for Everyone

If you are looking for more screen real estate, you'll probably want at least a 14" screen, although it will be heavier -- unless you opt for a more expensive Ultrabook. Gamers should look for a purpose-built notebook with a faster processor and discrete graphics chip. It also does not have a built-in optical drive.
