DP Review Great for bringing on trips and outings for still shots. Produce beautiful pictures without having to carry a big DSLR around. This camera has the same sized image sensor.

We have one and can vouch for its superb pictures.  Quality is well above a smartphone. Great low light performance. The more expensive $750 RX100-II is available with a pivoting LCD. The only downside we have found is that some older SD Cards do not fit well.
