Design:

The Corsair Vengeance K90 Mechanical Keyboard comes with many features that differentiates itself from its competitors. The keyboard comes without a cover around the keys compared to most keyboards in the market. You'll notice that it's easier to clean. The mechanical keys are Cherry MX Red mechanical key switches.

Recommended User:

This mechanical keyboard is great for gamers who play Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) and/or Real Time Strategy (RTS) games. However, we enjoy using it even when we are not gaming. This keyboard is very durable, has lots of features, and easy on the fingers.

Features:

  • Cherry MX Red Mechanical Key Switches
  • Each key is individually lit with LEDs (4 lighting modes - off, low, med, high)
  • There is a USB pass-through in the back of the keyboard
  • Media controls are easily accessible
  • The volume controller is a wheel
  • A Window's lock key to prevent clicking of the windows button when in-game.
  • Laser etched keys
  • Comfortable wrist rest
  • 18 Macro Keys with 3 Memory banks
  • 20-Key Rollover

Warranty:

This keyboard is backed with a 2-year, parts and labor warranty. Corsair has also placed a note in the Corsair Vengeance K90 Mechanical Keyboard's box to tell the owner not to return to the retailer. Instead, Corsair will directly help you with their customer service to satisfy your needs.

The Bad:

There are many reviews about this keyboard, mostly good, and majority of the reviewers don't like that this keyboard is not "fully mechanical" by that they mean that not all of they keys are mechanical like the G-keys, function keys (F-keys on top) and the center keys (prtScn - Page down). These keys are distinguished with a dimmer lighting compared to the actual mechanical keys (Alpha-numerical keys and Arrow Keys).

It's a good trade-off for all the nice features and design that has been put into the keyboard.

More information:

Overclock.net has a great guide to educate users on mechanical keyboards and tell them the difference between the different mechanical switches.

Final Thoughts:

From our experience with the Corsair Vengeance K90 Mechanical Keyboard, we have noticed that once we've used it, rubber domed keyboards don't feel the same. We highly recommend getting one. The Corsair K90 gives great user experience.

Alternative:

Newegg.com is also selling the Corsair K60 Mechanical Keyboard for $64.99 after $20 Mail-in-Rebate + Free Shipping ($84.99 at checkout).

This keyboard is targeted towards the PC gamers who play First-Person Shooter games and it's great for anyone who doesn't want to spend too much on a Mechanical Keyboard.

K60's Difference:

  • Single palm rest instead of wrist rest bar
  • No LED lighting
  • No Macro Keys
  • Comes with key-cap remover with textured W, A, S, D keys (in palm rest)
