This USB monochrome laser printer is a solid value with reasonably-priced replacement toner available (in both generic and name brand options). It features up to 2400 x 600 dpi print resolution, duplex printing for 2-sided documents (a rarity at this price point) and a 250-sheet paper tray. It includes a 1-year warranty.

PCMag gave the earlier non-duplex version an Editor's Choice award saying "In addition to being the right—which is to say, low—price, it's fast; it offers reasonably high quality output across the board for a mono laser...". A "con" mentioned in this review, no duplexer, has been solved with this model.

Brother Personal Laser comes with one starter toner cartridge (TN420) which yields approximately 700 pages per cartridge and one drum unit (DR 420) yielding approximately 12,000 pages.
