Today BuyVia released our Father’s Day Survey results revealing that 63% of fathers would rather receive the new Google Glass for a gift versus a new set of golf clubs. Our survey also revealed that 80% of dads would rather receive a new state-of-the-art flat screen TV to watch this year’s NBA or NHL playoffs rather than receive tickets to a championship game.
We found that above all spending time with their families on Father’s Day was most important to today’s dads as half of them said they’d like to celebrate by going on a family outing including going out to dinner, attend a sporting event, or spend a day at the park.
The biggest energy drain on a household is heating and cooling, but that doesn't mean you have to wear sweaters or bathing suits around the house to save energy. There are a number of ways to invest in home efficiency by reducing energy consumption, starting with your windows. Depending on your situation and investment capability, it is possible to use sunlight to passively heat your home. Skylights can create natural lighting and save on electricity, and Energy Star windows can be placed on south-facing windows to help generate heat and light.
The Energy Star label, an international standard for energy efficient products, is one thing to keep an eye out for when investing in new items or appliances. Computers, for instance, often have the Energy Star label, indicating they are more energy efficient than required by federal standards. You can take your energy efficiency a step further by purchasing a laptop instead of a desktop computer, and keeping them turned off when not in use.

Today BuyVia released our Tablet Survey results revealing that the top three functions consumers use their tablets for are web surfing, email and games. The three functions consumers use the least are video conferencing, taking pictures/videos and listening to music. As the tablet market continues to expand, it’s interesting to see how consumers are interacting with their devices and which devices they choose for different things.
Our survey found that the majority (65%) of survey respondents own a tablet, including the iPad, Kindle Fire, Google Nexus or Samsung Galaxy Note, 23% own an e-Reader, including the basic Amazon Kindle or Nook, and 27% do not own a tablet or an e-reader. Today BuyVia released our Smartphone Survey results revealing what features consumers want in their next Smartphone. As Apple, Samsung, Blackberry and Windows continually release enhanced devices, it’s always exciting to see what brands, operating systems and feature sets top the ‘most wanted’ lists.
How will the recently released Samsung Galaxy S4 stand up to the iPhone? Does the new Blackberry 10 even stand a chance? Check out the infographic below to see the hottest features, how often people are upgrading, whether or not they plan to switch from Android to iOS or vice versa, and what people do with their old devices.
Since last 2012, the BuyVia team has had insight into what features our users are interacting with the most. It quickly became clear that in-store barcode scanners are very popular. These scanning capabilities have literally put the world in your hand by empowering you to quickly compare prices of products you’re searching for to guarantee that you’re truly getting the best deal.
Sometimes when you use a barcode scanner to scan a product, you may experience a scanning error. We’ve discovered that a large number of UPC scanning errors stem from the various barcode formats available and proprietary products—some of which are specific to certain vendors.
Today BuyVia released our Apple Rumors Survey results revealing what consumers want in the rumored Apple “iWatch” and lower cost iPhone. As tech experts, we’re always curious about what products and features will be in the next generation iPhone or what new product Apple will release next. More importantly, we’re always interested in what will resonate most with consumers.
Will Apple’s next products be a hit or miss? The infographic below details the top five most coveted Apple iWatch features, the top features consumers would give up/would not give up for a cheaper iPhone, the price points consumers want the cheaper iPhone to be, etc.
