BuyVia Survey Reveals One Third of Consumers Plan to Purchase a Tablet for Back to School
Today BuyVia released our Back to School Survey results revealing that one third of consumers plan to purchase a tablet for back to school, one fifth plan to purchase a laptop, one fifth plan to purchase both a laptop and a tablet, and one third don’t have any plans to purchase a new device. Our results also revealed that of those consumers who are purchasing a laptop, 81% plan to buy a PC while 19% plan to buy a Mac. With the growing popularity of Macs among students and the reports of declining PC sales we thought Apple would be the leader in back to school purchases, but the opposite came through in our research. This could be because of the price difference between PC laptops and Mac laptops.
Additional Back to School survey results included:
- Of those respondents who are planning to purchase a tablet for back to school, 39% plan to purchase an iPad, 23% plan to purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab, 17% plan to purchase the iPad mini, 17% plan to purchase the Kindle Fire, and 5% plan to purchase something else (ASUS, Google Nexus, Microsoft Surface, etc.)
- The majority (39%) of consumers plan to do some of their back to school shopping online, 24% plan to do half of their shopping online, 17% plan to do the majority of their shopping online, 12% won’t be doing any shopping online, 6% will be doing all of their shopping online while 4% will not be doing any back to school shopping at all.
- 36% of consumers have never seen a tablet in a classroom environment while 34% have occasionally need tablets in the classroom.
